Head Strength and Conditioning Coach

Summary

The Head Strength and Conditioning Coach is responsible for the development and management of individual and group strength training programs for student-athletes participating in the NCAA Division III athletics program. The coach will provide programming that includes but not limited to motivation, education, and guidance on proper nutrition, conditioning, resistance training, mobility, and recovery to help athletes develop to the best of their ability.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Enables student-athletes to perform to their physical potential in respective sport through the development and management of individual and group weight, strength and fitness training program.
  • Design and implement strength training and conditioning programs in-season, off-season, and preseason for all 26 NCAA Division III athletic programs in a manner that reflects research-driven practices
  • Manages programs by monitoring progress and providing an assessment of development for each student-athlete and team.
  • Work in cooperation with the sports medicine staff in the rehabilitation and strengthening of injured student-athletes.
  • Facilitate a collaborative relationship among each sport coaching staff.
  • Conduct an annual needs analysis for each sport team in conjunction with the sport coach and the team's athletic trainer at the conclusion of each sport season.
  • Work with campus dining services to develop and craft optimized nutritional plans for athletes to help maximize peak performance.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Education:S. in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or Human Performance required. Master's degree preferred. Current standard first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and automated external defibrillation (AED) certifications.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of minimum experience coaching strength and conditioning at the high school, collegiate, or professional level preferred
  • Licenses and Certifications: Must hold at least one of the following certifications: CSCS from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), SCCC from the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA), USA Weightlifting (USAW) level 1 or Sports Performance Coach.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This position is responsible for supervision of student worker staff in the Athlete Weight Room facility.
